Method-Monday: The K-I-S-S Method – Creating Clarity and Moving into Consistent Action
The year is in motion.Ideas have been initiated. Decisions have been made. First steps have been taken.
In everyday work, it becomes clear what functions well, where adjustments are needed, and which topics now require consistent execution.
The K-I-S-S method (Keep – Improve – Start – Stop) provides a clear structural framework in phases like this. It brings focus to ongoing processes and translates thinking into concrete steps.
Four fields.Clear decisions.Execution.
What Is the K-I-S-S Method?
K-I-S-S stands for:
Keep – What works well and contributes to your goals?
Improve – What is set up in a meaningful way but requires more quality or consistency?
Start – Which action will move you forward in a noticeable way right now?
Stop – Which activities consume energy without generating relevant progress?
At its core, the method is about prioritization and ownership. You define what will be strengthened, what will be adjusted, what will begin, and what will end.
In dynamic phases, this structure ensures that energy is directed intentionally.

Structure and Application
The method is intentionally simple:
A sheet of paper. Four quadrants. 20 to 30 minutes of focused work.
In coaching, I pay particular attention to the following:
1. Keep – Secure Stability
Which routines, strategies, or projects create impact? What concretely supports your positioning, leadership, or growth? These elements remain intentionally in place.
2. Improve – Increase Quality
Where is the direction clear but execution inconsistent? What requires clearer structures, protected time blocks, or more precise communication? Here, specific adjustments are defined with practical relevance.
3. Start – Initiate Effective Actions
Which one or two steps create real leverage? What visibly advances your topic or objective? This field creates momentum.
4. Stop – Create Focus
Which tasks, commitments, or habits no longer align with your current priorities? What can be consciously ended to free up capacity?
Typically, no more than two or three points are defined per field. This keeps implementation realistic and binding.
How I Use the Method in Coaching
I use K-I-S-S particularly with:
Leaders managing multiple parallel responsibilities
Entrepreneurs in growth phases
Highly self-motivated individuals with many ideas
Clients who want to accelerate momentum
The outcome is a clear implementation agenda for the coming weeks.Concrete steps are defined with a timeframe and clear priority.
Especially in the Year of the Horse, this way of working fits well: movement requires direction.
Why This Method Is So Effective
The K-I-S-S method:
reduces complexity
strengthens decision-making
concentrates energy on a few high-impact levers
clarifies responsibilities
creates commitment
Structure creates clarity. And clarity facilitates execution.
Who Is This Method For?
For people who:
carry responsibility
think strategically and act operationally
manage multiple topics simultaneously
want to deploy their energy intentionally
It is suitable for individuals as well as for teams and leadership groups.
Conclusion
Movement is already there. Now it is about clear decisions and consistent execution.
Keep – consciously strengthen.Improve – intentionally refine.Start – actively implement.Stop – consistently conclude.
These four fields provide a simple structure. You can immediately see what remains, what will be adjusted, what begins, and what ends.
This creates clear direction for the coming weeks.Defined priorities replace diffuse task lists.
And then it is time to act.Step by step. Binding and implementable.
If you would like to combine your current momentum with clear direction, I am happy to support you.
In coaching, we define your four fields — precise, realistic, and actionable.
