Method Monday: My Top 3 Coaching Tools – Why These Methods Form the Heart of My Coaching Practice

There are countless coaching methods. And each of them has its place.

But when I look at my daily work, there are three tools I return to again and again. Because they create clarity, open new perspectives, and enable real change.

Today, in this Method Monday, I’m taking you behind the scenes of my work and introducing my personal top three: the Walt Disney Method, the Inner Team, and the Eisenhower Matrix. Three methods that could hardly be more different - and yet complement each other beautifully.

1. The Walt Disney Method

The Walt Disney Method is a creativity and decision-making tool based on three distinct perspectives:

  • The Dreamer

  • The Realist

  • The Critic

An idea is deliberately explored from each of these roles – one after another, in a structured and non-judgmental way.

Why I love it

Because it allows people to think big – without immediately holding themselves back. At the same time, it prevents visions from remaining abstract or unrealistic.

It creates a balance between creativity and structure. And that is exactly what many of my clients need.

2. The Inner Team

The Inner Team model assumes that we carry different inner voices within us.

There might be:

  • The Driver

  • The Doubter

  • The Courageous One

  • The Security-Seeker

  • The Enjoyer

  • The Inner Critic

  • The Peacemaker

Especially in difficult decisions or inner conflicts, it becomes clear: We are not “indecisive.” Rather, several inner parts want to be heard.

Why it is one of my top three

Because it creates depth.Because it fosters self-compassion.And because it does not suppress conflict – it integrates it. For me, the Inner Team is one of the most valuable methods when it comes to self-leadership and inner clarity.

3. The Eisenhower Matrix

The Eisenhower Matrix is a classic in time and self-management.

It differentiates between:

  • Important & urgent

  • Important & not urgent

  • Urgent & not important

  • Neither urgent nor important

So simple. And so powerful.

Why it is in my top three

Because it creates immediate clarity.Because it reduces overwhelm. And because it helps both leaders and entrepreneurs regain control.

Three Methods – Three Levels of Change

These three methods address three essential levels:

✨ Vision & creativity (Walt Disney Method)

💛 Inner clarity & self-leadership (Inner Team)

📊 Structure & prioritization (Eisenhower Matrix)

Together, they form a strong foundation for sustainable change.

Who are these methods particularly suitable for?

  • Leaders balancing strategy, team responsibility, and personal expectations

  • Self-employed professionals and entrepreneurs with many ideas – and even more to-dos

  • People in decision-making processes weighing different options

  • Project leads who want to set clear priorities and guide their teams with focus

  • High performers who achieve a lot – and want to work more consciously, not just faster

  • Individuals in career transitions seeking clarity about their next step

  • Founders aligning vision with practical implementation

  • Teams navigating change who want to use diverse perspectives constructively

  • People experiencing inner goal conflicts, torn between security and growth

Conclusion

For me, coaching is not about mechanically applying tools. It is about consciously choosing the right method at the right time.

These three methods are at the core of my work because they create clarity, broaden perspectives, and lead to action.

And that is exactly what coaching is about.

If you would like to explore which method could support you most right now, let’s talk. I look forward to connecting with you.

Yours, Johanna
